ROY, Utah Nov. 2, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 22-month old Roy child who died last month succumbed after “non-accidental trauma,” according to a search warrant affidavit.
She suffered serious brain injury, bite marks on her cheeks, and bruises on her neck that appear to be the result of strangulation, the statement said.
The Roy Police Department on Oct. 12 responded to a report of an unconscious toddler at a home near 5000 South and 3100 West. The girl was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital, where she died the next day. A doctor who examined the toddler before her death stated that her injuries did not seem to be survivable.
After a search warrant was obtained, officers took into evidence items including cell phones, clothing, diapers, crib bedding, medicines, tissues, hand tracings, nail clippings, dental impressions, hair samples and DNA swabs.
Police had not filed charges as of Wednesday, but are investigating several possible suspects in thew case. They announced last month the case was likely child abuse homicide.
