SOUTH JORDAN, UTAH – September 18, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A safety drive to bring together the air and ground agencies that respond to 911 calls was held Friday.
University of Utah South Jordan Health Center at 5126 West Daybreak Parkway was host to air ambulances AirMed, part of U. of U. Healthcare, Intermountain Life Flight, Classic Lifeguard and MountainStar AirCare, as well as South Jordan and Sandy Fire Departments and Unified Fire Authority.
Nathan Morreale, outreach coordinator and flight paramedic with AirMed said the purpose of the day was to focus on safety. “We are here to bring awareness,” he said. “We’re all out here in the business of responding to 911 calls from the ground or from the air and we need to safely provide that patient care that the citizens deserve.
“The Safety Drive is to bring everyone together in a coordinated effort to focus on safety, so that we can provide that quality patient care.”
Tom Hihn, Air Methods Corporation, regional safety director for the 12 western states, said the company is a big sponsor of the event, which raises money for the MedEvac Foundation. The foundation aims to advance medical transport worldwide by initiatives including funding education and outreach programs and helping medical transport providers further professional training.
“We are here to raise awareness and some money for the foundation in the process,” Hihn said.
The event also displayed two cars which are being raffled, a 1969Â restored Pontiac GTO and a 2015 Camaro convertible.
