SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 30, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — The Salt Lake Bees 2020 season at Smith’s Ballpark will not take place as Minor League Baseball announced the cancellation of its entire season Tuesday.

The announcement came after MLB informed its affiliated MiLB teams that it would not be providing players in 2020.

“These are unprecedented times for our country and our organization as this is the first time in our history that we’ve had a summer without Minor League Baseball,” said MiLB President and CEO Pat O’Conner in a statement. “While this is a sad day for many, this announcement removes the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 season and allows our teams to begin planning for an exciting 2021 season of affordable family entertainment.”

Back on May 6, Salt Lake Bees officials announced that the start of the season was delayed indefinitely due to COVID-19.
