Crews battle blaze at Salt Lake City apartment complex

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 7, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Between 20 and 30 residents of a Salt Lake City apartment complex were displaced Friday by a fire that caused roughly $200,000 in damages.

Crews responded to the blaze, at 1834 W. Independence Blvd. (1475 N.), at approximately 11:15 a.m., according to tweets from the Salt Lake City Fire Department.

Ten two-story units were affected by the fire.

Firefighters were on the scene within five minutes and the blaze was extinguished in less than 30 minutes. There were no injuries to residents or firefighters.

The displaced residents will be assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
