SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 4, 2018 ( Gephardt Daily) — A woman attempting to drive southbound on Interstate 15 was killed early Sunday morning when her car glanced off a traffic barrier and slammed into a wall near 900 South.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jalaine Hawkes told Gephardt Daily the 46-year-old Midvale woman was driving onto the I-15 collector about 5:46 a.m. in a white Saturn when the accident happened. The vehicle went right, struck the metal guardrail and traveled left striking the concrete wall and rolled on the roof.

She was partially ejected in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Hawkes said evidence suggests excessive speed may have been a factor in the deadly crash, but an exact cause had yet to be determined.

There were no signs of alcohol or drugs in the vehicle, officials said.

The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
