SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 15, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — After a competitive bidding process, Salt Lake City has been selected to host the US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup Tournament in 2021.

The seven-day tournament, scheduled from June 14 to June 20, 2021, will take place in the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC), a news release issued by the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office..

“(It) is expected to bring in more than 150 youth soccer teams from 14 west coast states and an estimated economic impact of $6 million,” the statement says. “This will be the third time in five years that the RAC hosts the Far West Presidents Cup.”

Boys and girls youth teams, ranging in age from 13U to 18U, will compete at the RAC for a spot in the championship tournament, the statement says.

The Far West Presidents Cup offers teams the chance to play against others from neighboring western states that they would not normally face in their regular leagues.

RAC is a multi-sport facility maintained and operated by the Public Services Department’s Parks Division. It has 16 natural grass playing fields, more than 1,200 parking spots, Wi-Fi and streaming capabilities, space for food trucks/vendors, and proximity to downtown Salt Lake, the statement says.
