Salt Lake City Crews Fight Fire At Utah Film Center

Fire At Utah Film Center
Crews responded early Tuesday morning to a structure fire at the Utah Film Center.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 29, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire investigators believe an electrical problem is the cause of an early morning fire Tuesday at the Utah Film Center.

The four-alarm fire, at 122 S. Main, was reported at about 3:30 a.m. Salt Lake City Fire Department officials said the building’s basement was the source of the heavy smoke.

The fire was put out within an hour, but officers planned to remain for most of Tuesday to watch for flare-ups. An initial investigation found that an electrical issue sparked the fire.

No injuries were reported. A resident living in a unit above the fire was evacuated.

Adjoining buildings also suffered a power outage and some smoke damage.
