SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 19, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Salt Lake City Transportation Division is asking for input as it drafts an ordinance to regulate electric scooters and other mobility devices.

Division officials will brief the City Council Tuesday night at a board meeting, they announced Tuesday, but are still seeking public input through the website www.slc.gov/transportation/sharedmobility.

“In July 2018, the first dockless scooter companies launched in Salt Lake City under a temporary operating agreement. This agreement has allowed vendors to obtain a business license during a pilot period until an ordinance is passed,” said a statement released by the City.

“Through this past year, comments have been collected that have helped shape the draft ordinance.

“While there has been considerable public feedback on scooters generally, this is the first time that the draft ordinance has been made available in the public. Salt Lake City is seeking feedback at www.slc.gov/transportation/sharedmobility. The draft ordinance can be viewed in-full and a survey for input is available. The feedback survey will be open until Dec. 4, 2019.”
