SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are looking for a suspect who went trick-or-treating early, wearing a Halloween mask and brandishing a gun as he robbed a 7-Eleven store.

The incident took place at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Lt. Carlos Valencia, with the Salt Lake City Police Department, said the suspect was wearing a blue-ish, grayish hoodie and a Halloween mask made to look like an old man as he entered the store at 487 S. Redwood Road.

“He approached the counter with a handgun and demanded money,” Valencia said. “The clerk pulled out the till, and the suspect proceeded to take the money and then left the scene.”

There is surveillance footage of the robbery, and SLCPD officers were waiting for the manager to arrive to give the video to them.

Police in the area looked for the suspect, but were unable to locate him.

Valencia said the clerk is all right physically, but was emotionally traumatized.

“Any robbery that involves a firearm can get bad. It’s a big deal,” Valencia told Gephardt Daily. “When we catch this guy, he’s definitely looking at a felony charge.”

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
