Salt Lake City police investigate Maverik armed robbery

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police responded to an armed robbery a little before 12:30 a.m. Saturday at a Maverik convenience store, at 1707 S. 300 West.

Salt Lake City Police Lt. Scott Smalley said the suspect entered the store and pointed a gun at the clerk.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic man, 30 to 40 years old, took cash and cigarettes before leaving on foot, Smalley said.

No one was injured, and no shots were fired.

Smalley told Gephardt Daily the man was possibly unshaven, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, and 160 pounds.

He was wearing a baggy, black sweater and black jeans.

The suspect wasn’t wearing a mask, Smalley said, and police will be reviewing surveillance video from the store and surrounding businesses.
