SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating two robberies that occurred only a few blocks apart Saturday night and were likely committed by the same suspect.

The first incident occurred at 8:15 p.m. at Del Taco, 809 E. 400 South, police said.

The suspect entered the business and waited until customers had left. He then handed a note to the cashier, demanding cash. When the employee refused, the suspect left.

Just a short while later, a man went into Papa Murphy’s Pizza and handed an employee a note demanding money. This time, the suspect said he had a gun. The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect fled on foot.

There were conflicting reports regarding whether a gun was actually seen, police said.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned Hispanic male in his 20s. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie, white T-shirt, and a gray glove with a black leather palm. He had a blue wrist brace on his other hand.

Police will be reviewing all available surveillance video from the area.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect’s description or who has any information about this crime is encouraged to call Salt Lake City Police Dispatch at 801-799-3000.
