SALT LAKE CITY, Utah,  Aug. 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police are investigating a shooting Thursday, after a man returned to a halfway house with injuries to his leg and torso.

SLCPD Lt. Robin Heiden said police responded to a call from the halfway house at 1585 W. 2100 South, reporting that a 40-year-old man had been shot.

Officers arrived to find the man in good condition, and he was transported to the hospital, where police are questioning him about the incident.

The victim lives at the address, which is a federal halfway house, and initially told people there that he may have wrecked his bike. Upon further inspection, it was determined that he had been shot twice, in his lower leg and his torso.

Heiden said the man hasn’t provided any information regarding who shot him or where the incident took place, but he is talking with police and giving them the information he has.

“It seems like an isolated incident,” Heiden said. “It doesn’t appear to be random.”

She said the Salt Lake City Police Department has gang detectives working on the case.
