SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 3, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police are investigating after a man was found seriously injured in the middle of a road downtown in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The man, who is around 40 years old, was found in the roadway in the area of 500 S. 300 West, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Salt Lake City Police Detective Greg Wilking told Gephardt Daily.

Wilking said the man was transported to an area hospital with injuries that are serious but not life-threatening.

It’s not clear at this early stage exactly what happened to the man. There was some debris from a vehicle found in the road, Wilking said, so he may have been hit by that vehicle, but that debris might have also been from a previous crash.

Wilking said officials will be looking at any surveillance video that is available from that area, and they may released surveillance footage at a later date if any additional information is needed.

He said that location in Salt Lake City is not remote, but it’s possible there were no witnesses to the event because of the time it occurred.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call the SLCPD on 801-799-3000. To remain anonymous, text crime tips to 274637. Start the text with the keyword TIPSLCPD (which routes it to SLCPD), then a space, followed by the relevant information or photos. Reference: crimetip.
