SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 4, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Salt Lake City have responded to the scene of a homicide at Liberty Park.
“An altercation at Liberty Park today resulted in a homicide,” says a 3:21 p.m. tweet issued by the SLCPD.
“The suspect is in custody. Detectives are still working the case to determine exactly what happened.”
Initial information, not yet confirmed by police, suggests both the suspect and the victim were males, and the deceased had been stabbed. The scene appears to be near the center of the 80 acre park.
The park is reportedly packed with those celebrating the holiday weekend.
