SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 24, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Salt Lake County man was arrested Monday after allegedly requesting explicit photos from a young girl.

A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court in Salt Lake County said Randi James Richins, 35, is charged with:

  • Enticing a minor by internet or text, second offense, a first-degree felony
  • Dealing in material harmful to a minor, second or subsequent offense, a second-degree felony
  • Sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony
  • Obstruction of justice, a third-degree felony

“Randi enticed a minor over the Internet over the course of several weeks,” the probable cause statement said. “During the text conversions, Randi sent the minor a photo of a nude male.”

Furthermore, on two separate accounts, Richins asked the minor to send him pictures of her private parts.

On Sept. 20, Richins went to a predetermined location with the intention of meeting the minor for sex.

“Once there, an officer attempted to arrest him,” the statement said. “Randi fled in his vehicle and was not apprehended. He was later found and taken into custody.”

Richins was transported to the Salt Lake County Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
