SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 18, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams issued a statement Wednesday evening announcing his run for Utah’s 4th Congressional District seat.

McAdams, a Democrat, will attempt to win the office currently held by two-term Republican Rep. Mia Love. Also in the race is political newcomer Darlene McDonald.

“I want to represent Utah’s 4th Congressional District because I want to take my bipartisan approach to Washington and apply it to the partisan gridlock,” McAdams said in the prepared statement.

“People say ‘Washington is so broken.’ I won’t settle for that. I have learned we can make progress and get anything done, whether it’s balancing a budget, or maintaining hundreds of miles of roadway, if we work together.

“I’m proud of my service as mayor and of how we’ve helped improve public safety, grow the economy, keep taxes low and give Utah families an opportunity to build a bright future. I know I can take that same approach to Washington and make a difference. Today I start my campaign to earn the support of Utahns in the 4th District next year.”
