Salt Lake City, March 15, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A family of seven was forced to flee their Redwood Road home early Sunday morning after a fire broke out around 3:20 a.m.

According to Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman, Jason Asey, the fire started in an outdoor shed before spreading to the residence.

Thirty five firefighters responded to the two alarm blaze which caused extensive damage, collapsing a carport and destroying two vehicles inside. Buildings just north of the home were also damaged.

The parents, and their children, ranging in age from infant to 19 years old escaped without injury and were attended to by the Red Cross.

“The fire was burning pretty good when we got there,” Asey said. “We just wanted to make sure we contained the fire to the one fourplex building. And, if it did end up moving, we wanted to make sure nobody was in those buildings.”

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, although investigators say they do not suspect foul play.
