Update: Salt Lake Police arrest suspect in 4 bank robberies

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 7, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Officers have booked a suspect into jail for four counts of robbery including that of a Salt Lake City credit union Tuesday morning.

The suspect, Richard Glenn Day, 37, entered the Goldenwest Credit Union at 769 E. South Temple a little before noon, Salt Lake Police Det. Greg Wilking told Gephardt Daily. Wilking said Day handed the teller a note demanding cash, but a weapon was not seen.

Day received an undisclosed amount of cash and left on foot. An officer spotted the suspect in the area of 167 S. 800 East and confronted him.

The statement of probable cause from Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that upon arrest, a maroon bag containing cash taken from the bank as well as clothing worn during the robbery was located with the suspect. During an interview with detectives, after being read his Miranda rights, Day confessed to robbing both the credit union and three other banks; Utah Federal Credit Union, Cyprus Credit Union and Zions Bank.

Day is facing charges of four counts second-degree felony bank robbery.

  1. I am so thankful they caught this guy! I work at one of the credit unions that was robbed! Although it was Utah Federal Credit union , not utah first!
