SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A neighborhood had a scare Friday night when gunshots rang out in the area of 2500 South and 700 East. The incident was called in to Salt Lake City Police at 8:13 p.m.

SLCPD Lt. James Tracy said “someone got upset with the victim and decided to shoot at him.” Tracy said the adult male victim was not hit by the gunfire, but his car may have been hit once or twice.

At least two suspects are believed to be involved, and police may be releasing a description of their vehicle later.

Tracy said the victim was not cooperating with the investigation, but police believe he and the suspects know each other and are “at the very least, acquaintances.”

There is no danger to the community, Tracy said. The incident is most likely drug related.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information becomes available.
