Salt Lake police respond to 4 shots fired calls over the weekend

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police responded to four separate shots-fired incidents over the weekend, officials said.

The first was at approximately 4:45 a.m. Saturday in the area of 198 E. Ensign Vista Drive, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“Upon arrival, officers located multiple shell casings in the roadway and damage to a single residence,” the news release said. “There were no injuries reported.”

The second incident occurred just after 1:50 a.m. Sunday in the area of 2025 S. 900 West.

“Officers on scene at the above address heard gunshots and began to check the area,” the news release said. “They were later notified of a bullet hole in a semi-truck in the parking lot.”

No injuries were reported, and no other damage was located.

There is no suspect information in either of those cases.

Just 10 minutes later, another shots-fired incident was reported in the area of 880 E. 400 South.

“Officers were on scene for an unrelated call when they heard gunshots close by,” the news release said. “Officers ran towards the area and observed a male running eastbound on 400 South.”

Officers began to check the area and found a firearm which had been discarded. Multiple shell casings were found across the street. One building sustained damage, no injuries were reported.

The suspect was not located. He is described as a Caucasian man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with an average build, last seen wearing a tan jacket, white hat and blue jeans.

The final shots-fired incident took place just after 11:05 a.m. Sunday in the area of 1277 W. 1100 North.

“Officers responded to numerous calls of shots fired near this address,” the news release said. “Officers located a victim whose vehicle had a single bullet hole in it. Officers located three shell casings in the street.”

An older silver model car was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed. There is no description of the suspect or suspects.

The investigation into all the cases is ongoing, officials said. It’s not believed at this stage that the four incidents are related.
