Salt Lake Police seek vehicle that fled after hitting man on bicycle

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 17, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 29-year-old man riding his bicycle at about 8 p.m. Tuesday was hit by an SUV-type vehicle, which fled the scene. Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver who fled.

Salt Lake City Police Lt. Justin Hudson said the accident occurred at 800 E. 1300 South. The bicyclist was going west on 1300 South, and the suspect’s vehicle was southbound on 800 East.

Hudson said the vehicle had a stop sign, and the bicycle was properly equipped with lights in both front and back. The bicyclist went to a local hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

The vehicle police are looking for is described as dark blue and possibly an SUV or Jeep. Hudson said it should have some damage on the front driver’s side.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or who has any information about the accident is asked to call Salt Lake City Police dispatch at 801-799-3000.
