Sandy Fire Declares Home a Total Loss
SANDY, UTAH – APRIL 8, 2015 (GEPHARDT DAILY) – A fire that started shortly around 10 a.m today gutted a Sandy home today leaving it a total loss.
According to Sandy City Fire Department Deputy Chief Derek Maxfield there were 3 individuals at the home located at about 8800 S. 1300 E. when the fire broke out. They were all able to escape the home without injury.
“About 25-30 firefighters worked to douse the fire in about 45 minutes. It was a little harder to control because the home had a pitched roof built over a flat roof where the fire was trapped,” said Maxfield.
Crews are still at the scene and investigators have yet to determine a cause however have identified the point of origin for the fire was in the back of the house by the deck.
