Sandy street is closed after hit-run crash knocks out power lines

SANDY, Utah, Feb. 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A hit-and-run crash involving a semi and a power pole has tied up traffic Monday night in the area of 8600 South and 1300 East.

Sandy Police Department tweeted that all southbound and westbound lanes will be closed for several hours for repair work on damaged power lines. Drivers are advised to use an alternative route.

Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen told Gephardt Daily the crash was a hit-and-run that occurred at about 7:30 p.m. He said it isn’t known why the truck hit the pole or if the driver was injured.

Rocky Mountain Power is on scene and repairs will likely be finished and the street open to traffic by 5:30 a.m., Nielsen said.
