BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah, May 31, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two men had to be rescued after getting stuck on a cliff in Big Cottonwood Canyon Tuesday night.

Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell said the two 21-year-old men got stuck at Ledgemere Campground when they “cliffed out”.

“Being ‘cliffed out’ is when you climb up a steep incline knowing there is a real possibility of not being able to come back down,” Bell said. “It happens all the time, and most of them can’t get down.”

Bell said rescuers had to use ropes and harnesses, provided by Search and Rescue, to get the men off the cliff. After that, the two were able to walk the rest of the way down.

Neither men had any injuries.
