SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Oct. 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The ramp from southbound I-15 to eastbound I-80 has reopened Wednesday after a tractor trailer crashed and caught fire.

A news release from Utah Highway Patrol said the tractor trailer, hauling frozen food, was heading southbound on I-15 at approximately 4 a.m. The semi was merging onto eastbound I-80 from southbound I-15 when the driver lost control. The tractor trailer impacted the right cement barrier and caught on fire.

The driver and co-driver were able to exit the tractor before it became engulfed in flames. They sustained only minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital to be checked out. The tractor is a total loss, the news release said.

Eastbound I-80 at southbound I-15 and the southbound collector ramp to eastbound I-80 were closed, but reopened around 12:45 p.m.
