IRON COUNTY, Utah, June 9, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A series of small earthquakes, the largest measuring magnitude 2.9, were recorded in southern Utah overnight.

The semi-steady drumbeat of seismic activity began Saturday at 8:22 p.m. when a magnitude 2.5 temblor hit four miles northwest of Enoch in Iron County.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.

About four and a half hours later, at 12:46 a.m. Sunday, a second micro quake, measuring magnitude 2.6, was recorded 5.8 miles north of Enoch.

Once again, there were no reports of damage or injuries.

Six minutes after that, at 12:52 a.m. Sunday, a third, slightly larger quake, measuring magnitude 2.9, hit in the very same area northwest of Enoch.

Once again, no reports of damage or injuries.

Fifty eight minutes later, at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, a fourth micro earthquake was recorded, registering at magnitude 2.4. It was centered five miles west of Enoch.

And, you guessed it; there were no reports of damage of injuries.

About a half dozen area residents reported feeling the quakes to the U.S. Geological Survey which tracks quake activity worldwide.

There are unconfirmed reports that those who felt the earth moving in southern Utah but did not report it attributed the seismic activity to bad dreams, heavy meals before bedtime or amorous advances by loved ones and/or close associates.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.
