Utah, Aug. 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather warning for northern Utah and southwest Wyoming Wednesday afternoon.
A tweet from the NWS Salt Lake City said strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon; including heavy rain, frequent lighting, strong wind gusts and large hail.
At 2 p.m., a follow up tweet from the NWS said the storm is producing hail in Farmington and Kaysville. “Large hail and wind gusts to 60 mph continue to be a threat in addition to heavy rain,” the tweet said.
In addition, flash flood warnings are in place Washington County and a flash flood watch is in place for other areas of southern Utah.
St. George Police Department tweeted Wednesday morning there is flooding in the area of 2800 S. River Road (Horseman’s Parkway area). Horseman’s Parkway and 2800 South are closed and drivers are being urged to use Little Valley, Brigham, and Bloomington Hills as alternate routes.
