SEVIER COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 31, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Sevier County major crimes unit arrested a Richfield man Thursday on suspicion of distribution of methamphetamine.
Phillip Troy Hatch, 56, was taken into custody after a “significant amount of methamphetamine was discovered” during a traffic stop on Interstate 70 early Thursday morning, according to a news release by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook.
The release says detectives, assisted by deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers, initiated the traffic stop, found the methamphetamine, and enough evidence was gathered for investigators to seek a search warrant for Hatch’s residence on 200 South in Richfield.
Upon searching the home, officials found “paraphernalia and materials consistent with the practice of distributing illegal drugs,” the release states.
Hatch is being held in the Sevier County Jail on charges of:
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, a second-degree felony
- Possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor
- Three counts of distribution of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony
“More arrests will be made in the future as this case continues to expand,” the release says. “This is another example of cooperation of efforts by all agencies in Sevier County to work on the illegal drug trade in Sevier County. Thank you to everyone who assisted in this case and the other cases.”
