UINTAH COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A road in Uintah County had to be shut down Friday and Saturday while crews worked to retrieve a vehicle that was found empty 380 feet down a ravine.

Uintah County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that Taylor Mountain Road, northwest of Vernal, would close for four hours while crews worked to retrieve the vehicle.

The road reopened Saturday but closed again at 4 p.m. that day while crews finished the retrieval.

The road then reopened Sunday morning.

“A full size truck was found over 380 feet from the road in a ravine on the night on Aug. 9,” the post said. “There were no injuries resulting from this incident due to the truck being unoccupied when it went off the road. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as a stolen vehicle.”

Gephardt Daily will have more on this story as information is made available.
