Update: 6 arrested in West Valley City case that left teen shooting victim in serious condition

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Jan. 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City police have arrested four adults and two juveniles in connection with a Jan. 26 shooting that left a 16-year-old boy in critical condition.

The victim, shot near the area of 3300 South and 3700 West, was hospitalized and has since been upgraded to serious condition.

The names of the 15- and 16-year-old juveniles arrested will not be released. The names of the adults are Carlos Valentin-Alarcon and Gerson Murisia-Morales, age 18, and Juan Jose Espina and Kevin Henriquez-Chavarria, age 19.

Two people are suspected of firing guns, the other four are suspects in the altercation that preceded the shooting, according to information released Saturday by the West Valley City Police Department. Arrest warrant fact sheets indicate Henriquez-Chavarria is suspected of firing one of the guns, and multiple witnesses viewed him doing so. One of the two juveniles is also suspected.
