SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 20, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police are searching for a suspect after shots were fired during an altercation in a downtown Salt Lake City bar in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at Bodega at 331 S. Main St. just before 12:45 a.m., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“A group of friends were at a bar when two of the individuals got into an argument over a female,” the news release said. “During the argument an uninvolved party displayed a handgun by pointing it at the ground. The gun was never pointed at anyone, but at some point, it did go off while pointed at the ground. The individual with the gun fled the scene on foot.”

He is described as Hispanic, with a heavy build, last seen wearing a black jacket, baseball cap and blue jeans.

A single shell casing was recovered at the scene, officials said.
