Skateboarder seriously injured in Salt Lake City auto-pedestrian accident

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 31, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A skateboarder was taken to the hospital in serious condition Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a car on 700 East near 2200 South in Salt Lake City.

Witnesses told Gephardt Daily that a male, who appeared to be in his late teens or early 20s, was in the crosswalk heading west across 700 East about 1:20 p.m. when he was hit by a woman driving a southbound Volkswagen Jetta.

Good Samaritans rendered aid until first responders could arrive.

The injured skateboarder suffered a broken leg and other injuries, none of which are believed to be life-threatening.

Police investigators have yet to determine the exact cause of the accident.

It’s unclear if charges will be filed.
