LEHI, Utah, Dec. 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Skyridge High School student was transported to an area hospital Monday morning after being hit by a school bus.

Alpine School District spokesman David Stephenson told Gephardt Daily the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. when an 18-year-old male student was crossing through a parking lot just north of the school at 3000 N. Center St.

The bus driver did not see the student and struck him.

The student was transported to Mountain Point Medical Center in Lehi with a leg or ankle injury that is not life threatening. Stephenson said no one was injured on the school bus but the driver was shaken up after the incident.

Stephenson said the bus was moving slowly, as it had just turned a corner into the parking lot.

Lehi Police Department and the Alpine School District Safety Department are investigating the incident but at this time it appears it was simply an accident.

“We wish the student a speedy recovery,” Stephenson said.
