SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City firefighters rescued a woman who fell into the icy waist-deep waters of the pond at Liberty Park Sunday.

“Earlier today Truck 8 and Water Rescue 7 from SLC Fire rescued a young woman who had fallen waist deep into the waters,” said a Facebook post from SLC Fire.

Crews used an inflatable raft and ropes to rescue the woman.

“With the fluctuations in temperature, ice depth and stability can be difficult to gauge,” the post said. “Please stay away from ponds, lakes, and streams.”

Officials did not say how the woman fell into the pond, or why she was not able to get out without assistance.
