SLC Police: Man robbed by suspect brandishing gun

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was allegedly robbed by a suspect brandishing a gun who followed him from a 7-Eleven store in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident occurred in the area of 330 E. 700 South at approximately 4:20 a.m., said a news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department.

“The victim was making a purchase at the 7-Eleven, when he was followed out of the store by the suspect who engaged him in conversation,” the news release said. “The victim then walked toward his apartment. A short time later the suspect approached from a vehicle that held three other occupants.”

The victim was then told to turn over his money as the suspect brandished a weapon.

“The suspect fled the scene in the vehicle and the victim called police,” the news release said. “Officers located the suspect vehicle with the occupants fitting the description.”

Officers located the property of the victim inside the car, along with a black BB gun.

Robert Edward Dean Jr., 22, was arrested for robbery, officials said. The other occupants of the vehicle were not charged.
