SLC police searching for suspect who allegedly stabbed victim in back at funeral

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a victim in the back at a funeral in Salt Lake City Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at the Neil O’Donnell and Sons Mortuary at 372 E. 100 South just after 10:15 a.m., according to a news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department.

“The suspect and the victim were attending a funeral when they got into a verbal argument,” the news release said. “Other people attending broke up the altercation and encouraged them to reconcile. As they went to give each other hugs and make up, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the back.”

The victim was treated at the scene.

The suspect then fled, the news release said. That individual has been identified, but not located.
