SLCo Library hits milestone: Check it out

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 30, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake County Library services has announced that area residents made 12.5 million checkouts during 2024.

“This milestone highlights the importance of Salt Lake County’s Library services, along with the community’s deep appreciation for education and entertainment,” the news release says.

The number also makes the SLCo Library system one of the nation’s Top 10 circulating library systems, the statement says.

Christa Warren, senior manager of Collections at the County Library, says it reflects well on Salt Lake County.

“We serve a county that is passionate about reading and learning, and fulfilling those needs for our residents is very rewarding,” Warren said.

“We’re proud of the way we’ve delivered great materials to our patrons, and thrilled to be one of the top circulating libraries in the country.”

The SLCo Library System also shared local readers’ favorite books to check out, by age group.

Most popular teen titles:

1.       “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” by Suzanne Collins

Most popular kids titles:

1.       “Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea” by Dav Pilkey

2.       “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Big Shot” by Jeff Kinney

3.       “Fablehaven” by Brandon Mull

Residents of Salt Lake County can access everything the library has, including popular titles, programs, homework help, Create spaces, language learning, and more with a free library card.
