SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 29, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- The Salt Lake City Police Department scored a major bust last weekend, seizing nearly seven pounds of methamphetamine and more than $6,000 in suspected drug money.
According to a SLCPD news release, members of the bike squad were tipped off to "possible drug activity" after which officers witnessed an apparent drug transaction near 2100 S. Redwood Road.
"The suspected buyer was stopped and, with help from the Cottonwood Heights Police Department’s K-9 team, officers discovered approximately 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine inside the vehicle," the release said.
Police from multiple units went to a nearby hotel "connected to the suspect" where they executed a "court-authorized search warrant and recovered an additional 4.3 pounds of methamphetamine and $6,258 in cash."
SLCPD Chief Brian Redd lauded the arrest and seizure.
"Disrupting a suspected methamphetamine supply chain like this is a major win for our officers and the city," Redd said. "I’m proud of the work by our officers and I am very appreciative for the support we received both in-state and out-of-state on this case.”
The case remains under investigation. Charges will be screened by the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, the SLCPD news release said.
