AMERICAN FORK, Utah, Dec. 12, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Salt Lake City police officer has been jailed in Utah County after he reportedly invited a woman he met on a dating app to his American Fork townhome to view a religious devotional, then allegedly assaulted and sexually abused her.
Zander Ethan Nunley, 26, is being investigated on suspicion of forcible sodomy, object rape, forcible sexual abuse and aggravated abuse, all classified as felonies.
“The victim reported that Zander invited her over to his residence in American Fork to watch a religious Christmas devotional that was playing in the evening of 12/08/2024,” Sunday, court documents say.
The woman alleged that during the assault, Nunley had bitten her, leaving bruises on her neck and other body parts.
A forensic nurse at a Utah County hospital reported the alleged assault to police on Dec. 9, Monday.
Nunley was booked into jail on Wednesday afternoon, and was ordered to be held without bail.
Gephardt Daily requested a statement from the SLCPD, and was sent the following:
“On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) received information about a criminal investigation and the arrest of one of our officers. Upon learning of this information, the SLCPD promptly placed the officer on paid administrative leave. The allegations in this case are serious and conflict with our core values.”
