CARBON COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 14, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — The body of a 25-year-old man who died after falling in the Desolation Canyon area while hunting Saturday has been recovered.

According to Carbon County Sheriff’s Detective Wally Hendricks, Zac Clement was mountain lion hunting with his father-in-law in the Desolation Canyon area at about noon when he slipped on a rock and fell 30-50 feet down Rock Canyon.

Hendricks said Clement’s father-in-law had to hike more than two hours in order to have enough service to call for help. Due to the steep terrain and the time of night, Zac’s body was not able to be recovered until the following day.

“We used Snowcats and snowmobiles to get to Zac, and Utah Highway Patrol used their helicopter to remove his body,” Hendricks said.

Hendricks said although they are not sure yet, it is believed Zac died at the time of the fall.

“Zac was a local boy, I knew him personally. He was from Emery County and was a really good kid and well liked,” Hendricks said. “This is a tough loss for his family and the entire community.”
