OGDEN, Utah, March 10, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A victim critically injured in a hit-and-run accident last week in Ogden has been identified as the son of a Chief Deputy with the Davis County Sheriff’s Office.
A post on the DCSO Facebook page said 27-year-old Preston Chase Fielding, the son of Chief Deputy Kevin Fielding, was critically injured after being hit while walking crossing Washington Blvd., just after midnight on March 4.
The driver, who was pulling out of the Maverik and onto Washington Boulevard, failed to stop. Detectives with the Ogden Police Department released a photo of the vehicle to the public, and a citizen was able to help officers locate the suspect.
The driver has been identified as 23-year-old Samuel Enrique Hernandez of Ogden. He was traveling with a passenger identified as Salvador Hernandez. Weber County Attorney’s Office is currently handling the case, and is expected to charge Hernandez with third-degree felony leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury.
Fielding’s son has been upgraded to serious condition.
