SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 23, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — A South Jordan man is in Salt Lake County Jail after a federal search warrant for alleged child pornography was executed at his home Tuesday.

Thomas Michael Wallin, 21, is facing charges of:

  • Sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony
  • Two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony
  • Aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony

According to probable cause statement filed in 3rd District Court in Salt Lake County, the federal search warrant was executed after “Department of Homeland Security Investigations previously received information regarding Wallin manufacturing and distributing child pornography via the internet from his residence and electronic devices.”

The charging document states that, post Miranda, Wallin allegedly admitted to receiving, producing and distributing child pornography.

“Wallin further admitted to sexually touching a young male (approximately four years of age) victim in an LDS meeting house during December of 2019,” the document claims.

According to the statement, Wallin filmed the abuse.

Wallin has an “extensive juvenile history of engaging in sexual contact with minors,” the document says, citing additional conditions for continued detention.

“Additionally, Wallin sexually abused a young male during funeral gatherings at an LDS chapel,” the arresting officer wrote in the document.

Wallin was booked into Salt Lake County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
