Both parents work a night shift, and the child had been left in the custody of their teenage son. Police were still in the area at about noon, trying to locate anyone who knew the little girl, when they noticed a man come out of his house in a panic.

The man told police he had just returned home from work and noticed the little girl was missing.

Buttars said the investigation is ongoing, and the girl remained in state custody as of Tuesday night.
