Update: Man arrested after stabbing in South Salt Lake

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, June 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspect who fled after an altercation in South Salt Lake led to a stabbing on Monday afternoon has been arrested.

South Salt Lake Police Department officials said Amerrick Sifor White Sr., 35, was charged with aggravated assault with intent to cause serious harm. White, who is from West Valley City, was booked into Salt Lake County Jail.

The 23-year-old man who was stabbed is in critical but stable condition, officials said.

The altercation happened in front of the Jiffy Lube at 3300 S. Main St. at approximately 12:15 p.m.

Police received a report of two black males fighting, which led to one man being stabbed multiple times.

The victim was driven to St. Mark’s Hospital in a private vehicle.

The hospital then contacted police to report the stabbing.

Officials said the men involved did know each other, but no further details were released about what led up to the altercation.
