SOUTH SALT LAKE, UTAH – August 28, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Police were called to the South Salt Lake Waste Water Pump Station located at 2250 S. 600 West on a burglary/ theft on Friday, August 21 at 1 p.m.
SSL Police said in a press release workers discovered that a pump station storage shed had been broken into and many power tools were missing. During the course of the investigation and after viewing hours of surveillance video, detectives discovered that the burglary/theft occurred on the night of August 19 shortly after 8 p.m.
A newer model dark colored mini-van was seen in the area, then the male suspect walked down the north fence of the pump station and cut a hole through the chain link fence and entered. The male suspect made his way to the storage shed and cut the door latches with a large pair of bolt cutters.
The suspect unloaded the shed piece-by-piece and then contacted the driver of the mini-van to load up the stolen power tools/equipment. It appears the thieves removed the license plate from the vehicle to avoid detection. A total of 15 items; generators, a compressor, a lawn mower, a leaf blower, weed trimmers, a snow blower, saws, a chain saw, a concrete saw and a pressure washer valued at $11,890 were stolen.
The suspect was last seen wearing a red baggy long sleeve shirt, black loose fitting pants and white shoes. The suspect also used a dark hoodie and possibly a white bandana to conceal his face.
