BEAVER, Utah, Aug. 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Mile Marker 122 Fire, which was burning about 10 miles north of Beaver, is now fully contained as of Saturday evening.

“Local fire personnel will continue to check on it daily,” said a tweet from Utah Fire Info.

The fire was first reported at 12:26 a.m. Thursday, and burgeoned from 50 to 1,000 acres in a few short hours, forcing the closure of Interstate 15 for a short time. Southbound I-15 was shut down at Exit 129 and northbound I-15 was shut down at Exit 95.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday the fire was reportedly 25 percent contained after multiple firefighting resources were rushed to the scene.

By Friday, the fire was 1,232 acres and 60 percent contained.

The blaze was human caused, officials said.
