SPANISH FORK, Utah, June 12, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Spanish Fork girl who remained hospitalized after a May 18 auto-pedestrian incident that also injured her friend has died.
The girls were airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital. The other girl, 12-year-old Olivia, was released in late May.
A GoFundMe account set up for 13-year-old Reagan, who remained hospitalized, says she has been removed from life support and has died.
The friends were crossing a road, walking to a store, when they were struck by a Kia Soul SUV and critically injured.
“Reagan was able to end three horrible weeks of suffering and join her Father in Heaven,” says the account update. “She had 90 minutes from the removal of life support to be able to donate her organs. She fought until the end and at 88 min she left us,” said a note from a loved one named David.
“She was able to donate her organs and tissues. To know that other suffering children will be able to live, to see, to walk is the only joy in any of this. To say she will be missed is the understatement of the year. I love you Reagan and miss you forever until we meet again.”
Juliet, Reagan’s mother, also wrote a note.
“I want to thank all my wonderful friends and family for all the love and support you have showed me and my family at this unimaginably devastating time. Unfortunately my daughter was not able to live from this accident. However she will be able to live through others because she was miraculously able to donate most of her organs to help save others lives. It is the only thing that gives me comfort at this time.
“Also that I know she was greeted by her dad that had passed away when she was a baby! I don’t think I can ever drive by that intersection that took my daughters life but the love we’ve been shown from family, friends, neighbors, our ward family, and community will never be forgotten! Thank you and God bless you all!”
Money raised by the guaranteed GoFundMe account will be used to pay medical expenses and fund Reagan’s funeral, the account says.
