SPANISH FORK, Utah, Oct. 4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The Spanish Fork Police Department is cautioning the public to keep an eye on children and pets and be careful when outside, because a small yearling bear cub was sighted near the golf course and homes in the East River bottoms area.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page late Monday evening, this is the second time a bear has been seen. Department of Wildlife Resources employees and police officers have set up a live bear trap and hope to catch and relocate the bear.

DWR personnel estimate the bear to be a year to 18 months old, and they say it hasn’t been aggressive. Signs have been placed in the areas where the bear has been spotted.

Anyone who sees the bear is asked to call Spanish Fork Police at 801-804-4700.
