ST. GEORGE, Utah, May 30, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A large fire destroyed a Frito-Lay Distribution Center early Monday morning in St. George.

St. George Battalion Chief Darren Imlay said an employee arrived for a shift at the distribution center, at 1161 N. 1210 West, just before 5 a.m., noticed the roof was on fire and called 911.

“When our crews arrived, flames were coming from the roof so they had to take a defensive strategy to contain the fire,” Imlay said.

“We were already in the area on another call, so it only took crews a couple of minutes to arrive.”

Imlay said the fire was eventually contained, but the 7,000-square-foot distribution center is a total loss. The fire is still under investigation, and investigators have not been able to determine a cause.

There is currently no estimate on damages.
