ST. GEORGE, Utah, March 29, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in St. George have arrested a man wanted on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman at a laundromat last Friday.
Sterling Joshua Begay was arrested on charges of robbery and assault after a woman called 911 reporting she had been sexually assaulted and robbed while at a laundromat with her two small children.
The woman told police she was approached by the suspect, who tried to force her into a separate room at the business, located near St. George Boulevard and 800 East.
The victim resisted and starting screaming. She was able to escape, grab her children, and run from the laundromat.
Witnesses said the suspect left the area on a bicycle after taking the victim’s money and cellphone.
Begay had been arrested a short time later in a retail theft incident in Washington City when officers realized he matched the description of the suspect from the laundromat assault.
